Access Control Engineer


Salary: £29,000 - 35,000 per annum

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent between the hours of 8am - 5pm with ½ hour unpaid lunch break

Repair, install and maintain Access Control, Warden Call, Communal Aerial & CCTV equipment across all contracts, ensuring that all works are carried out in accordance with the 'Health and Safety at Work Act' and to Industry Standard.

Main Duties and Responsiblities

  • Service and install a range of Access Control, Warden Call and CCTV systems (including IP/Networked), Intruder and fire systems
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance to above systems
  • To ensure that all aspects of Access Control/'CCTV works including test and inspections compliance checks are carried out in accordance with current British Standards
  • To report on a daily basis to supervisor/manager on the status of all works within the Department and advise in good time, problems of time-scale or resources.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with the 'Health and Safety at Work Act
  • Cover out of hours call out (1 week in every 4)

 

Person Specification


Essential

Education / Training / Qualification

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Competency (Minimum 2 years' experience) or ADSA, CAMEsafe, Tynetec, Entrotec, CAI accredited

 

Skills / Aptitude / Knowledge

  • Good written and spoken communication skills
  • The ability to work carefully, methodically and safely
  • The ability to follow technical drawings, building plans and wiring diagrams
  • Good practical skills and problem-solving skills

 

Experience

  • Experience in the installation of new systems as well as fault finding and repair of Access control, Warden Call and CCTV systems

 

Desirable 

Education/Training/Qualification

  • Knowledge and training of Risk Assessment process
  • Recognised and trained to work with vulnerable persons
  • CSCS Card

 

Skills/Aptitude/Knowledge

  • Asbestos Aware
  • A Willingness to work in confined spaces

To supervise a team of Gas Servicing Engineers and carry out repairs to gas fired heating boilers within occupied and unoccupied (void) properties to meet the requirement and expectations of the Client or his/her representative, in accordance with the Clients detailed specification (standard) in a timely fashion (pre-arranged appointment) and in compliance with current gas legislation. To help cover and assist the contract manager when necessary. To carry out on a rota basic out of hours emergency call outs

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervision of direct and self-employed Operatives, plant and equipment, to ensure that they carry out duties required and work efficiently and effectively within the requirements of the Company.
  • To ensure that works are completed to the required Company standard and within projected time-scale, costs and technical requirements.
  • Determine and monitor standards of performance throughout the range of the department’s operations. Contributing to the development of an affective service, responsive to changing circumstances and demands.
  • Carry out inspections of works in progress and completed works, schedule additional works and monitor progress.
  • Monitor performance of Operatives within specific contracts, undertake surveys and prepare reports.
  • Monitor operatives to ensure compliance with quality and performance targets.
  • Ensure that statutory obligation in relation to Gas Safety Regulations and any other regulation that is specific to your area of operation.
  • To be aware of the exact disposition of all Operatives in the field and their availability, to control and liaise with Operatives in the field to ensure that all aspects of the Operatives function is fully resourced and serviced to maintain maximum efficiency.
  • To act as a liaison between Operatives in the field and all other Departments within the Company, so that problems and issues can be dealt with effectively and efficiently.
  • Keeping records as appropriate.
  • Visiting sites within the Company’s service area
  • To ensure that all procedures and departmental instructions that relate to the Service Delivery process are maintained with particular regard to Quality Assurance procedures.
  • To ensure that all work carried out complies with the relevant sections of the ‘Health and Safety at Work Act’.
  • To liaise and report to contract manager on any aspects of the contract set out by the client.
