Oakrays’ appointed responsible person to lead H&S and Environmental Management across the company. To liaise with all employees to ensure that all work carried out complies with the relevant sections of the ‘Health and Safety at Work Act’. Ensuring staff have adequate H&S awareness training required for their role.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver health and safety strategies in the workplace according to legal guidelines, providing advice and support as necessary
Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and comply with current regulations & legislation.
Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention,
Monitor compliance to policies and legislation by inspecting employees and operations
Manage/record inspection of equipment and tools to observe possible unsafe conditions
Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
Prepare and report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics at management meetings
Coordinate a team of auditors to ensure the company is compliant to meet ISO’s requirements
Update and monitor company accreditations, such as CHAS, Construction Line etc.
Investigate accidents, Incident and enforcement in-line with (HSE) regulations to discover causes and advise on prevention
Manage company risk assessment process and compliance monitoring
Work alongside FM Team to monitor site inspections and audits, ensuring that a Fire Plan is available on site, ensuring compliance & maintenance of firefighting equipment, ensuring fire exits are kept clear and fire drills organised on a regular basis.
Work with FM Team on appropriate selection and use of protective clothing and equipment.
Identify new working methods, equipment or materials, which could reduce risks.
Identify potential hazards on new sites before work starts, health and safety factors affecting the selection of plant or equipment, sub-contractors. Ensure procedures of Risk Assessments and Method Statements have been met.
Identify and assist with the implementation of continuous improvement
Ensure the quality of documentation is managed and controlled
Responsibility for the Supplier and Subcontractor Approval Process
Developing and implementing fleet HSEQ policies in conjunction with necessary parties
Monitoring and reporting of company procedures and performance including client KPI’s
Assist with maintaining the company’s ISO accreditations
Any other duties as reasonably required.

Competent by qualification & proven experience in a H&S Management role
Knowledge of H&S in construction or Building Services Industry
Good understanding of ISO 9001/14001/22301/27001 – OHSAS 18001 (ISO 45001)
IOSH Chartered Member
Full UK Driving licence and willing to travel to sites as required
